Children enjoy a well-rounded life at Moffats. The school week is a busy one and keeps all children occupied, not just with work but also with games, sport, and many other activities.
SportEvery day at Moffats includes a balanced and varied diet of sport – one hour of coached games is part of the daily timetable.
Physical activity at Moffats involves much more than sport in the school grounds. We run group activities such as hill walking at weekends in our local landscape, and regularly take pupils out of the school environment.
Cricket, hockey, football, netball and rounders are taught and played by boys and girls together; athletics coaching is given to all children, and younger children enjoy gymnastics. Rugby skills, tennis and badminton are part of outdoor activities, complemented by swimming in the summer. Snooker and table tennis are played indoors all year round.
There are deliberate gaps in the timetable to enable children to play, inside or out, with their friends, or to find a quiet place to relax on their own.
ActivitiesAs they get older and more involved in developing their cultural or sporting skills, some of the planned gaps in the daily timetable will be filled by instrumental or choral practices, play rehearsals, stable work or training sessions for games or athletics.
The boarders' evenings are organised according to age. For the youngest there will be time free to let off steam, to roller-skate, or perhaps, in summer, to play on the lawn before going to bed.
