Educated at Shrewsbury and Cambridge, Mark Daborn joined Moffats in 1984, having previously qualified as a chartered surveyor. Married to Alex with three grown-up children who all attended Moffats, he has been headmaster since 1993. By teaching classes and mixing daily with all children and staff, he is able to maintain a strong understanding of the needs of individual children and the school as a whole. As a Team Inspector on the Independent Schools Inspectorate he has an advantage when assessing the school's performance objectively. Moffats staff are encouraged routinely to observe each other's lessons and to react positively to criticism or ideas for improvement.Outside school Mark Daborn is an assistant curate in Kinlet Parish and the benefice of Cleobury Mortimer. He contributed articles to Kinlet: The Life and Times of a Shropshire Village published in December 2007.
