Music Marathon raises £1500Moffats pupils and staff made music for 12 hours non-stop in March to raise funds towards the Choir's tour of Siena.
What a day! The Marathon started at 9 a.m. with Mr Paul piping Danny Boy, and finished 12 hours later to the same tune. In between we had a feast of music, including whole-school sing-alongs, class music sessions, individual instrumental performances, Forms 6 and 5+ performing their orchestral repertoire, a very physical Gospel workshop for all from Little Moffats upwards, an hour of jazz in the Front Hall from Messrs Julian and Paul, and an hour of folksongs to round off the day to Mr Daborn’s guitar.
The highlights? Difficult to pick out any moments in such a successful day, but it would have to be the four-part medley of Swing Low, This Train, I’m Gonna Sing and When the Saints just before 6.00, with day parents and staff joining the whole school in a really rousing rendition; and the last hour, with boarders on sofas in the Hall, juniors fast asleep curled up with seniors.
Sponsorship has pledged over £1500 towards the Choir’s Tour to Siena in April and future music ventures.
