Fun for the boarders at an exeat weekend

A trip to a play barn and a visit to a castle. All part of the weekend fun for Moffats children.

We always try to make weekends fun and active for the boarders who stay in, but exeat weekends are a little bit extra-special.

The "quarter" and "three-quarter" term weekends are a chance to do something a bit different - more like a family outing.

There are lots of places and activities to choose from, and none is more popular than Mickey Miller's Play Barn near Craven Arms. Just a hour's minibus drive from school, the barn is an excellent way to let off steam and have a good romp - and the rule is... everyone gets to play, children and adults alike!

The drop-slide is addictive - once you've made the leap of faith to do it the first time!

Hours fly by, and the children are reluctant to depart. However some fresh air is needed, so off to Clun for a walk round the remains of the castle. Fortunately the skies hold, and we are able to enjoy the imposing remains of this Marcher stronghold, built by the Normans c.1140-50 to keep out marauding Welsh.

Stopping in Cleobury on the way home to pick up supper from the fish & chip shop, we then make ourselves comfortable in front of a movie.

The verdict? A very successful day.
