Shakespeare Brought to Life at Moffats

Rain or Shine Theatre Company give a Moffats Masterclass

BottomOM James Reynard, director of the Rain or Shine Theatre Company, returned in January to the place where his acting career started to present Shakespeare Live, an hour-long show introducing schoolchildren to the wonders of the Bard.  He was joined by three colleagues, two of them regulars of Rain or Shine who have appeared on the lawn in the Company's summer productions, and who were seen in Kinlet Village Hall in December in James's adaptation of Dicken's Christmas Carol.  The pupils were treated to a whirlwind tour of Shakespeare's plays as the group mixed scenes from tragedies, comedies and histories with questions and answers, audience participation and lots of humour - as well as pathos.  Scenes came from plays as diverse as The Taming of the Shrew and Richard III.  Children were invited on stage to be fairies - and an ass - in A Midsummer Night's Dream and witches in Macbeth.

Rain or Shine Theatre will be back on the lawn of Kinlet Hall this summer with Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest on Friday 18th June.  More details will be available from Moffats Office.
